Choosing Your First Diamondback Firearm

Whether you’re buying for home defense, concealed carry, range time, or hunting, we’ll walk you through the right platform, caliber, and configuration for your mission.

Home Defense

For home defense, we recommend the DB15 Carbon or Black Gold in 5.56 NATO. The 16" barrel provides accuracy while M-LOK compatibility lets you add a light and optic. The DB9 Gen4 is also an excellent nightstand pistol — compact, 9mm, and +P rated.

Concealed Carry

The DB9 Gen4 is our most compact 9mm pistol at just 11oz — purpose-built for IWB carry. For .380 ACP fans, the DB380 offers even slimmer dimensions. Both ship with a 6+1 capacity and smooth trigger pull.

Range & Sport Shooting

The DB15 Diamond Series is our top-tier range rifle — CMC 3.5lb drop-in trigger, Magpul ACS-L stock, and our precision S-Rail. For pistol shooters, the AM2 (DBAM29) gives you full-size 9mm performance with a 15+1 capacity.

Hunting

For medium to large game, the DB10 in .308 Win delivers. The DB15 in 5.56 is ideal for varmint and predator hunting. Both platforms use free-floating barrels and accept quality optics.

DB15 Series Comparison

The DB15 is our most popular platform — available in four tiers. Here’s how Carbon, Black Gold, Obsidian, and Diamond compare so you can pick the right configuration.

Carbon Series — Our entry point. 7075-T6 aluminum lower, M-LOK rail, Magpul MOE furniture, A2 flash hider, mil-spec trigger. Reliable, lightweight, ready out of the box.

Black Gold Series — Upgraded ergonomics. Enhanced trigger guard, Diamondback V-Rail with anti-slip texture, Magpul K2 grip and CTR stock, DB09-HV flash hider.

Obsidian Series — Aggressive styling meets performance. Anti-rotation S-Rail, K2 grip, CTR stock, Obsidian muzzle brake. Dark, purposeful, and built to suppress recoil.

Diamond Series — The flagship. CMC 3.5lb single-stage drop-in trigger, ACS-L stock, K2+ grip, skeletonized trigger guard, and our precision muzzle brake. The best we make.

Suppressor 101

New to suppressors? We break down how they work, the NFA process, materials science behind Ventra, and what to expect from sound reduction, backpressure, and maintenance.

How does a suppressor work?

A suppressor attaches to the muzzle of your firearm and contains a series of baffles that redirect and cool expanding gases as the bullet exits. This slows gas expansion and reduces the sound signature. Our Ventra suppressors use an asymmetric baffle system for optimal sound reduction with minimal backpressure.

What is the NFA process?

Suppressors are regulated under the National Firearms Act. You’ll need to: (1) Purchase through a licensed dealer, (2) Complete ATF Form 4, (3) Submit fingerprints and passport photo, (4) Pay the $200 tax stamp, (5) Wait for approval (typically 4-12 months with eForm). Many dealers offer a "buy now, shoot while you wait" program.

Why Inconel 718?

Our Ventra suppressors use Inconel 718 — a nickel-based superalloy that withstands temperatures above 2,000°F without degradation. Combined with 17-4 stainless steel baffles, this means our suppressors are full-auto rated and built to handle sustained fire without material fatigue.

What about maintenance?

Rimfire and pistol-caliber suppressors should be cleaned every 500-1,000 rounds. Centerfire rifle suppressors like the Ventra 5.56 and 30 Cal are largely self-cleaning due to the high heat and pressure. Our HUB-compatible direct-thread design allows tool-free disassembly for inspection.

Caliber & Use-Case Guide

From 5.56 NATO to .22LR to 5.7x28mm — which caliber fits your mission? We match calibers to use cases with real-world context.

5.56 NATO / .223 Rem

The most versatile intermediate rifle cartridge. Low recoil, high velocity, effective for home defense (with proper ammo selection), varmint hunting, and sport shooting. Available across our DB15 and DB9R platforms.

.308 Win / 7.62 NATO

A full-power rifle cartridge for medium to large game hunting, precision shooting, and defensive applications where barrier penetration matters. Available in our DB10 platform.

9x19mm Parabellum

The world’s most popular pistol cartridge. Balanced recoil, wide ammo availability, effective for self-defense and range use. Available in our DB9 Gen4 and AM2 platforms.

5.7x28mm

A high-velocity, low-recoil PDW cartridge designed for body armor penetration. Low felt recoil, flat trajectory, and 20+1 capacity in our DBX57 platform. Excellent for vehicle carry and personal defense.

.22LR / .22WMR

Affordable, low-recoil rimfire cartridges perfect for training, plinking, small game, and introducing new shooters. Available in our SDR and Sidekick revolvers — the Sidekick converts between both calibers.

Maintenance & Care Basics

Keep your Diamondback running smooth with our cleaning, lubrication, storage, and inspection guidelines.

After every range session

Clear the firearm. Remove the bolt carrier group (AR platforms) or field strip (pistols). Wipe down all surfaces with a clean cloth. Run a bore brush followed by patches through the barrel. Apply light oil to the BCG/slide rails.

Every 500 rounds

Deep clean the bolt carrier group — scrape carbon from the bolt tail, gas key, and cam pin. Clean the trigger group. Inspect the gas rings (AR platforms) and replace if gaps align. Check all screws and castle nut torque.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry environment. Apply a light coat of oil to all metal surfaces. Use a dehumidifier or desiccant in your safe. For long-term storage, remove magazines and store springs uncompressed.

Suppressor care

Rimfire/pistol suppressors: soak baffles in solvent every 500-1,000 rounds. Centerfire rifle suppressors: inspect thread engagement, check for baffle strikes, and ensure mount is properly timed. Our Ventra direct-thread design makes inspection straightforward.
